Grand Lisboa has probably one of the most unique-looking skyscrapers in the world. The skyscraper, which is the hotel, holds 47 stories and 430 hotel rooms and suites. There is another unique-looking building right in front of it: a round, bulb-like glass building with a pointy base. That is the casino, which offers 800 gaming tables and 1,000 slot machines.

History

Despite what its eighties-esque exterior might suggest, Grand Lisboa has been around for only six years. The hotel casino resort was designed by Hong Kong architects Dennis Lau and Ng Chun Man. It was established by Sociedade de Turismo e Diversoes de Macau (or “The Society of Travelling and Entertainment of Macau Limited” in English), a company that once held a monopoly to Macau’s gambling industry.

The restaurants and casino were opened on February 11, 2007, and the hotel opened almost two years later, in December 2008.

Lodging

Here, you will find over 400 (430, to be exact) hotel rooms and suites. Each room and suite comes with a Turkish steam bath and Jacuzzi. You can choose between their Superior, Corner, or Suite rooms. With each room or suite comes with access to the hotel’s facilities, which include a swimming pool, a fitness center, the Lisboa Spa, Le Salon, the business center, and limousine service.

Gambling

At the casino here, you will find both table games and electronic games.

The table games they have available include Baccarat, Blackjack, Caribbean Stud Poker, 3 Card Baccarat, Sic Bo, American Roulette, and the Fortune Wheel.

When it comes to electronic games, this casino has you covered. You’ll find over 800 slots ranging from 5-cent slots to $6,000 slots. They also have slots with progressive jackpots.

Attractions & Entertainment

Grand Lisboa has a residential dance show called Crazy Paris Show. Also featured are special dance shows like French Can Can, India Dance, Pole Dancing, and the Sway. You can catch a show anytime between 2:00 PM and 12:00 AM throughout the gaming floor.

There is also the Gift Gallery, where you can go shopping for gifts and souvenirs.

Why Grand Lisboa Gets 2.5 Stars

Judging by the amount of tourists Macau gets on a daily basis, the 430 hotel rooms and suites at this hotel resort can get sold out pretty fast. The gambling facilities have a lot to offer with a wide variety of games and slots. However, if you don’t feel like gambling, you do not really have much to do around the premises except to watch a show, swim in the pool, indulge yourself at the spa, or work out at the fitness center. Not only that, but as entertaining as they may be, the shows here are hardly headliner shows. While one might have a comfortable stay at Grand Lisboa, they would be likely to feel inclined to leave the premises to enjoy other types of attractions and shows elsewhere.
