Global Poker Review 2024

4.5/5

Global Poker was launched in 2017 under the Virtual Gaming Worlds (VGW) umbrella, and is licensed by the Malta Gaming Authority although it doesn’t offer the option to deposit real money. The site instead uses a sweepstakes model to let players compete for the potential to win cash prizes.

As Global Poker is a social casino, you are always able to play for free in Canada and the US (except for Washington State in the US and Quebec in Canada). But, if you collect Sweeps Coins, you can also play with the chance to win a cash prize.

With poker, table games, slots titles, tournaments and a range of promotions available, Global Poker provides a good selection however you prefer to play. Read on to see our expert’s thoughts in our Global Poker review for 2024.

Standard play

4.5/5

As you might expect, the name of the game here is poker. Players can enjoy all the versions of the game you’d reasonably expect – Texas Hold ‘Em, Omaha, and Omaha High/Low – as well as interesting variants like Crazy Pineapple and Bounty Tournaments.

In addition to ring games, which are easy to drop in and out of, this site offers various weekly poker tournaments as well as Global Poker championships. In other words, no matter how serious a player you are and how much time you have available, there’ll be something here for you.

But, despite what this website’s name suggests, we could just as easily refer to this as a Global Poker online casino review because there’s more than poker to play here. Some of the 25+ slots titles available include Diamond Panther, Western Gold, Hypernova Megaways, and Dragon’s River.

If you’re after table games, you’ll also find Blackjack (and Premium Blackjack), Caribbean Poker, and Casino Hold ‘Em on offer here. The site doesn’t, however, feature any progressive games like Chumba Casino or Luckyland Slots.

All new players are awarded a $20 Gold Coin purchase offer after signing up and verifying their identity. As a bonus, players will receive some Global Poker free Sweeps Coins – 20 SC, to be more specific. There are no deposit codes or passwords needed to claim the Global Poker welcome bonus, it applies to all new customers equally.

As for payment options, you can use cards, online banking, and Skrill to purchase Gold Coins. You’ll often find additional bonuses and promotions are available when you top up, also without the need for any type of Global Poker bonus code.

Promotional play

4.5/5

At Global Poker, you may find yourself generating a balance of Sweeps Coins in addition to Gold Coins. You’ll be given some, for example, as a bonus when you first sign up. And you can use these Sweeps Coins in poker games and tournaments, with the potential to win real cash prizes without spending any money of your own.

To redeem Sweeps Coins for prizes, you’ll need to have a minimum balance of 10 SC for a gift card, or 50 SC for a cash prize redemption. The best way to do this is by taking advantage of any giveaways or promotions Global Poker offers on Sweeps Coins, often as part of a Gold Coin purchase offer.

Remember: because Sweeps Coins are hard to come by, you might want to play more carefully when using Sweeps Coins instead of Gold Coins.

Mobile play

4/5

Although there isn’t a dedicated Global Poker app available in either the App Store for iOS devices, or Google Play Store for Android devices, that doesn’t mean mobile play is unavailable. In fact, you can access games on the go using a responsive version of the main site by logging into the site on your phone.

The mobile version of Global Poker can be a little tricky to get used to but, while it may lack some of the polish of high-end real money poker apps, the responsive site replicates the desktop version pretty well.

If you need a little variety, don’t forget that you can also access the slots and table games that are available on the site while you’re on the move as well. Overall, we’d say that Global Poker has a solid offering for playing on smartphones and tablets, despite not having an app.

Banking options

4/5

The following payment methods, all of which can be used by players in North America, were available for Gold Coin purchases when we were writing our Global Poker online casino review:

Note that if you’re redeeming prizes as cash instead of as a gift card, you can only use your bank account or Skrill to do so. As mentioned above, you’ll need to meet the minimum threshold of 50 SC to redeem a cash prize.

Global Poker doesn’t explicitly qualify a limit when it comes to how many Sweeps Coins you can convert into a cash prize at one time. There is a limit of 50,000 Sweeps Coins at other VGW sites, so we’d recommend breaking down cash prize redemption requests into a few smaller transactions instead of one large one.

Bear in mind that, even though Global Poker reviews prize redemptions daily, it may take 3-5 (or even up to 10) business days for banks to transfer prizes into your account.

Security and fair play

4.5/5

Licensing and regulation should be an important part of any Global Poker online review, even though you can’t directly deposit or withdraw cash here. This is the case because proper regulation by an established gaming authority is a clear sign that a site is honest, transparent, and fair.

For that reason, it’s fantastic to see that Global Poker is licensed and regulated by the Malta Gaming Authority (MGA). It uses a patented sweepstakes model – US 10,580,256 B2 – and the random number generator used to shuffle their cards has been independently certified as legitimate by iTechLabs.

If you need help while playing at Global Poker, the first step is to check out their extensive self-service helpdesk area. If you can’t find an answer there, you can submit an email support ticket via the Global Poker Help Center. On pages relating to purchases, support is also available via live chat. We’ve invariably found the Global Poker support team to be efficient, helpful, and friendly, responding very quickly.

Conclusion

4/5

Our opinion of Global Poker is that it’s a great spot for poker fans to try their luck for free, especially those who are unable to access real money poker due to legislation where they live, or some other reason.

We were impressed by the scope of poker variants and tournaments on offer here, all available for free, and the action closely resembles some of the top real money poker sites on the market. Of course, as essentially a social casino, there’s one key difference at Global Poker: players can join the fun without any purchase necessary.

The addition of slots and table games is a nice bonus but, as you would expect, poker is the priority here. And this place does it very well. Play your cards right, so to speak, and you might end up with the added bonus of being able to exchange Sweeps Coins for prizes to boot.

However you prefer to play, Global Poker has something for everyone. If you sign up and verify your account now you can also enjoy a generous welcome bonus, so why not give it a try?
