As you may have guessed, The Venetian Macao is a sister resort to The Venetian Las Vegas. It is actually the seventh largest building in the world by its floor area. Not only that, but it is also the largest casino in the world, as well as the largest single structure hotel building in Asia.

It is just as awe-inspiring and luxurious as its famous sister resort in Vegas, only a lot bigger. For example, The Venetian Las Vegas has a 120,000 square foot casino floor, while this one has a casino floor that is 550,000 square feet!

As suggested by the size of the building, The Venetian Macao offers a lot of attractions and accommodations that can keep you entertained for days on end.

History

Eight years after The Venetian Las Vegas opened to the public in Sin City, Las Vegas Sands unveiled The Venetian Macao on August 28, 2007. Despite it being the world’s largest casino, The Venetian Macao cost $2.4 billion to build. That is a lot of money, yes, but far smaller hotel casino resorts, such as the Marina Bay Sands Resort, cost twice as much money to build. (They blew $5.5 billion on Marina Bay Sands Resort).

It is safe to say that this hotel casino resort has been wildly successful. Only 133 days after The Venetian Macao was launched to the public, it welcomed its 8 millionth customer!

Lodging

The world’s largest casino is home to 3,000 luxurious spacious suites ranging from 755 square feet to 3,830 square feet. The smallest and cheapest suite, Royale Suite, is still nothing to scoff at. It is a split-level suite with a king-sized bed, an elegant marble bathroom, a soaking tub, a separate shower, and standard amenities like a hairdryer, bathrobes, and slippers.

We have five more suites (each more luxurious than the last), and then there is the Cielo Suite, a 3,830 suite with so many to offer. Its features include two bedrooms, a dining area, a living area, an in-suite spa room, a chauffeur-driven limousine, a butler pantry, a Jacuzzi, a media room, butler service, exclusive check-in, and deluxe marble bathrooms.

Gambling

At a whooping 550,000 square feet, the gaming floor at The Venetian Macao offers everything you could possibly think of at a casino:

  • Over 3,400 slot machines
  • 800 gambling tables
  • A 15,000 seat arena for sporting events like NBA games
  • An exclusive gaming area called the Paiza Club that caters to high rollers and VIPs

The casino is divided in four themed areas: Imperial House, Golden Fish, Phoenix, and Red Dragon.

Attractions & Entertainment

1.6 million square feet of the building is reserved for retail spaces. In that area, you will find at least 350 brand-name retail stores, over 30 world-class restaurants, and 51 gondolas floating around in the waters of the canals and outdoor lagoon.

If you enjoy watching shows, you will be pleased to hear that The Venetian Macao is home to many popular shows, including Cesar Millan Live, Kepler, and a Beauty and the Beast Broadway production.

There are other things to do on the premises, including mini golfing, getting a beauty treatment at the spa, working out at the V gym, and splashing around at the pools.

Why The Venetian Macao Gets 4.5 Stars

The Venetian Macao’s motto is probably “go big or go home”. Everything here is big and elaborate. There are plenty of suites, attractions, entertainment, shops, and casino games for everyone. However, the reason we decided not to award this casino resort a full five stars is the fact that it might be too pricey for your average tourist.
